Apalachee & WBHS Seniors Moving Off To College

Can you believe they are already gone?  These are just two that I know of that left for college this past weekend.  I’m glad it wasn’t mine!  That wouldn’t have made my Fathers day very good.  These two are Peyton from Apalachee and Hannah from WBHS and they are both now at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville.  We wish them both much success in college!  If you are a class of 2013 graduate let us know what you are up to!  Where and when are you going to college, any awards, scholarships, jobs, vacations or whatever you might be up to – we would love to know!  You might even be featured here.

Mt View High School Senior Portraits

senior portraitWith the summer moving along at a rapid pace we are spotlighting a few of last years seniors.  This is Rachel and Christiana from Mt. View high school and we photographed them last summer.  If you are in the class of 2014 and go to Mt. View give us a call and lets talk about what we can do to make your senior portraits show the real you!  We offer a limited number of senior sessions each year, about the same number the school photographer does in one day, and we want you to be one of them.

Winder Senior Heading To Cincinnati Reds

Senior portrait of a baseball playerWinder-Barrow class of 2013 senior Dalton Carter has been drafted to the Cincinnati Reds!  Dalton came to us for an Outdoor session last summer, like his sister did a few years ago.  We had a great time photographing Dalton, and he had some great images from his session.  Now he needs to come back and bring his Cincinnati Reds uniform!  Good luck Dalton!

The Importance Of The Printed Image

Me with my father.

Yesterday when I was checking a few things on the internet I ran across a great post.  The post was on a site that never has anything that is really serious, which made this even more meaningful to me.  On Facebook “Missy Mwac” has a page that pokes fun at the state of the photography industry.  She posted this, along with a photograph of her father holding her in his arms, yesterday morning and it made me think about what she was saying.   This was her post:

“This picture was taken when I was 5 years old. I knew right where it was in the photo album. I didn’t have to comb through hard-drives or search the clouds for it. I didn’t even have to worry about it “opening.”It’s a piece of paper with an image of a man who was my hero, a man I honor this Father’s Day. I have this photograph now, many years later, because somebody cared enough to print it. – Missy Mwac”

After reading that and seeing the picture it made me think about some of the photographs of me with my father and grand parents that we have in albums.  If these were taken today they would never make it off the iPhone or onto anything other than a CD or computer hard drive.  I am so thankful that someone took the time to get prints made of these for me, or I would have never seen them and had them to pass along to my children.

Fishing with my grandfather, who passed away when I was three.  He loved to fish.

My trying to be just like my grandfather.

In my Army uniform.  Wanting to just like my father.

Caught one!  What do you wear when you fish?

Happy Fathers Day!

Congratulations To Drew From Apalachee High School

Senior Portrait in AthensLast summer Drew came to us for his senior portraits and did a Downtown and Road Trip session.  A few weeks before school ended for the summer Drew came back for another Road Trip session for some images for his graduation announcements.  Drew is going to the University of Georgia this fall and wanted his announcements to show where he was going next year.  The weekend after we did the images in Athens he tried out for the cheer leading team and made the team.  Congratulations, Drew!
